As Shadows Rest (Part Two)

I froze in place. I waited for about three minutes, and then, another slow, quiet knock. Knock. Knock. Knock. Slow and steady, the unknown visitor persistently tapped on my oak door. I belatedly got up, blood still dripping off my hands, freshly cut with glass. I silently sneaked down my dark narrow hallway, making my way to the door. I stopped about two feet from the doorway. I uttered a small scream when suddenly, the knock got louder. Extremely loud. And this time, the knocks continued. Knock, knock, knock, knock, over and over. The knocks turned into bangs. I took a small breath, stood on my tiptoes, and peeked through the peephole.
